Upcoming release: Oink!

OK so I’m behind on releases due to a holiday to the West Coast of the US (amazing!) and I broke my promise of one release per month. Or did I?! This next release will go out on Thursday the 29th July, just inside the end of themonth. Earlier versions of this track helped to define Pitch Twit: it was this track that led to Sidewards – Pitch Twit’s first ever release. The original inspiration came from a huge track I’m sure you’ll know – the Timo Maas mix of Azzido Da Bass’s track entitled Doom’s Night.

This one will be free again, this time on Creative Commons’ most liberal license allowing commercial use and alteration, and there’ll be WAV versions available for the DJs. Is there anything left to give? Don’t answer that.

Also, just a quick shout out to my top supporting music blogs: OMFG Atlanta; and The Hats and Friends.

Oink!

Impetus

Impetus – Pitch Twit’s latest release on Sic Outfit Recordings – is out now! Not only that – its free to all!

Here’s the track:-

Impetus by pitchtwit

Here’s what Dancen Dancen music blog said about the track:-
“I have been pretty busy the last few days preparing everything for tomorrows Discolabevent, that explains the lack of updates in the last days. Just now I was packing my virtual record case, and there is one track, which I’m looking forward to play: Impetus by Pitch Twit. I was pretty surprised hearing the track the first time, because the last release by Pitch Twit I did was a straight electro bomb. But Impetus plays in another game, called Techno! It carries a certain feeling, which only few tracks each year are able to create: It’s timeless. If I would be floating in outer space, this would be my soundtrack, and it would have companions like Gregor Treshers “A thousand nights”. The track is eight minutes long, but Pitch Twit managed to create a brilliant structure, which keeps the track morphing from minute to minute. There is not a single second nor a single beat too much in this stroke of a true genius. The bass is warm and embracing, the synths interesting, but unobtrusive, and the break at 2:20 makes me wanna telling every living creature in the universe that I love it. Believe me, this piece of music will once be seen as a milestone of the development of electronic music. Pitch Twit, I take my hat off – Thanks” Dancen Dancen Music Blog

3 Bar Fire Release and Reviews

Wed Jan 14 2009

3BarFireLogoThe Pitch Twit releases went as planned and Pitch Twit is now up on several of the leading MP3 download sites including itunes, Juno, Play, DJ Download, Track it down, People’s music store, Beats Digital and Meteli.
There were reviews in several publications including the Times! – “Memorably mad electro bump’n’grind from the Yorkshire newcomer.”

Noise Makes Enemy Review (Sat Jan 17 2009)

I have to admit, I am usually left a bit in the dark with such wacky electronica. For me artists who walk a similar line to that of Pitch Twit write music that lacks any kind of structure or story. In fact for me, music is about stories; it’s about creating a space and taking listeners on some sort of journey. Something which to my ears, fidgety baselines coupled with quirky samples and squirts does not seem to do.
But Pitch Twit is slightly different. He uses such carefully timed builds and effective structures that with his debut release, Sidewards I was immediately drawn in.

Sidewards throws repetitive burps and slurps head high over the top of clever beats – almost hip-hop in style – and whispered haunting synths. This blend of sounds makes for a really colourful musical canvas. But what’s more, Pitch Twit actually goes somewhere with his music. Sidewards throws your ears around through carefully controlled musical dialogues and pulverizes your senses.

So Pitch Twit has made his form of electro-swizz actually tell a story. For me, this sets him above the rest. To be removed from my bedroom and thrown into the world of Pitch Twit is to be taken into a musical space that I have never been in before. Taken somewhere I don’t really want to leave.

Track it Down – Quick Review (Sat Jan 17 2009)

Track it Down had a few words to say about the release..
Now this is a crazy track people! Pitch Twit delivers a tasty 2 tracker with both tracks sounding like future anthems to us at TID! This track is an experimental breaks track and will work a treat on those floors with its random arrangement and phat electro bass synths!

Pitch Twit – Sidewards (3 Bar Fire)

..Those
who claim innovative music is dead would do well to lend their ears to
Pitch Twit, whose debut release of electronica represents the magic
that can be worked with synthesisers.

The man behind this magic
is Yorkshire-based producer Thomas Sidebottom, who punches out a series
of repeated electronic oddness which is strangely alluring and
addictive.

Lead track ‘Sideways’ opens with a short and sharp
burst of electronic bends with spurts of electric noise. This quickly
leads into a laid back series of electronic rise and falls before
descending again into synthesised organised madness. Think Mr
Oizo-injected with a high dose of funk and random trembling bass bursts.

The support track ‘Pieces of 4′ is a more drawn out affair which shows
Pitch
Twit showing off his creative brilliance, with signature beeps and
tweeps a permanent fixture. This track is more dance-based, with
constant drum loops behind the fluctuating electronic riffs and bursts
of noise, but the track is much longer and experimental.

Touches
of genius allude throughout, including a drop half-way through before
launching back into the frenetic mixmatch of electro madness.

Anyone
who believes modern music has become simply noise would do best to stay
away but those with open minds will love what Pitch Twit has produced.
The twisting melodies and original electronic bursts which could become
his signature are a refreshing beginning to the new year.
